Total pain scores halved, on average, from 12 to 5 points. Total mentions of "frequently" experiencing pain (the most extreme category on a four point scale) fell from 12 to none. Stress questionnaire scores halved on average from two points to one (on a three point scale). Case A reported: "Great reduction in lower back pain and deeper sleep patterns. More understanding of my own body and the strain I put it under. No longer feel run-down at the end of the work-day. I have thoroughly enjoyed the AT classes, and have received great benefit from them, both mentally and physically". Pain score fell from 12 to 3. Case B reported: "Less pain in lower back and between shoulders. Less discomfort and tightness in back of thighs. I have found the semi-supine position a very useful way to relax both body and mind. Better general awareness of my body in space. I now feel that I have an array of techniques for relieving tension. I have better awareness of how my skeleton and muscles fit together and how various movements affect them." Pain score fell from 10 to 2. Case C reported: "Less back pain. More awareness of posture. Less migraines. Knowledge of how my spine works, sensible posture, which parts of me should be working during certain movements". Pain score fell from 9 to 2.
